King Willem-Alexander opens the BREEAM-certified most sustainable building in the world. The executive board of Unilever receives His Majesty in the laboratory situated on the Wageningen Campus. Sandenburg and DST were one of the lead agencies.

We design the Tony’s head office and store inside the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. The unique Tony’s Super Store opens the same year in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Here on average more than 500.000 people visit the store to taste and buy the sweet seductive product with a serious story about people.

The Tuinbouw Dome at the Floriade Expo in Venlo. The 360° degrees dome shaped projection show reaches the majority of the in total 2.2 million visitors of the horticultural experience.
The original Landmarkt store in Schellingwoude. This fresh market in Amsterdam North is a unique and hybride foodretail and foodservice concept inside a former greenhouse. Landmarkt extended its store in 2019 by offering 350 m2 of fresh foods and a large restaurant.
The information centre on the Maasvlakte 2 near Rotterdam invites guests to get acquainted with the construction and development of the most striking example of innovation and sustainable port development. In 2018 Futureland received the millionth visitor to discover the major civil engineering project in the Netherlands.

Markus and his compagnon Arjan Witteveen acquire the Belgian coffee chain Jacqmotte from Douwe Egberts and change the brand name into Mockamore.
Sandenburg in involved with the completion of the conference and party centre de Kikkertuin in the visitor attraction and camping park of Duinrell, commissioned by H.R.J. Count Van Zuylen van Nijevelt, owner of the estate of Duinrell.
DST is busy creating the original version of the Heineken Experience in the former brewery. Holding company Heineken International asks Markus to lead this project, which is carefully monitored by the founding family and owners.
Foundation of Sandenburg concept creation
Markus Konings lays the foundation of his own company, in close cooperation with Frederik van Lynden van Sandenburg. Based on the estate of Sandenburg in Langbroek. Hence the name. Sandenburg conept creation focuses at first on projects in the leisure market: e.g., the new construction of Duinrell Plaza, the restaurants in Burgers Zoo and the Oranje Nassau Pavilion in Keukenhof, the most beautiful spring garden in the world.
