5 steps from idea to realisation
The Sandenburg-DST team always works with a practical system of five phases that leads to the desired project outcome. This methodology is based on our 20+ years of experience in developing and implementing concepts for food service, retail and mixed-use spaces. By using these five steps, we offer our customers insight in the design, development and realisation of concepts and projects for their brands and organisations.

Step 1
Strategy & Vision development

- Defining Expectations and project criteria
- Determining goals
- Assessment and analysis
- Vision and core values
- Concept strategy
- Briefing

We use the first step to lay the base for any new concept. Together with our client – and if needed end users – we chart operational and strategic targets and determine the concept requirements. We also set broad lines for design and realisation.

Step 2
Ideation & Tangibility

- Brainstorm and co-creation
- Ideation process
- Testing feasibility
- Formulating assumptions and draw up Program Requirements
- Briefing creative team for brand identity design, spatial design and graphic design

The second step bridges strategy and design. We translate the strategic Why and What to a concrete and tangible How. We cover ideas and opportunities in physical or digital work sessions together with our client, specialists and stakeholders. The result is a plan of action with set starting points.

Step 3
Design & Image creation

- Designing sketch ideas
- Testing
- Design prototype (VO)
- Processing feedback
- Final Design (DO)

In this crucial design phase our design specialists translate the concept vision to a physical and /or digital space, combining it with a graphic identity. Our team develops a design that leads to curiosity, new impulses and to sales, recommendations and/or a stronger customer relationship with our client.

Step 4
Build & Production

- Tendering suppliers
- Developing mock-ups
- Starting and supervision production
- Assessing result
- Supervising delivery

The fourth step is designated to bring a concept to life. The realisation phase is a specialty requiring years of experience to get it just right. We are business partners of dedicated specialists who have managed such processes for years, and have vast experience in making complex concepts in food service, retail, office and mixed-use spaces become reality.

Step 5
Policy & Implementation

- Determining and describing guidelines
- Instructions in text and images
- Determining medium of choice
- Producing instruction manual
- Implementing in practice

To guarantee the future success of a concept, we document the main points of a formula and concept. Consistency, recognizability and uniformity are key words here. That applies to both an optimal brand experience for end users and a consistently executed brand policy by our client.
